WHAT NATURE INSPIRES US
For some, it allows you to recharge your batteries or fill up on creativity. For others, it is a source of tranquility and naturally commands respect. Whatever your point of view, nature is at the heart of life, of our lives. In the agricultural world, it holds a central place and maintains a very special relationship with those who are closest to it: the farmers. A work environment? A landmark? Obvious? Everyone is free to establish their own definition. What matters for us, for you, is that some have made the choice of Abundance by nature.
CULTIVATE A LOVE OF NATURE
In the heart of Haute-Savoie, women and men have chosen to settle in a true haven of peace to work, recharge their batteries and produce high-quality products like AOP Abondance. More than a work environment, nature is a place of life for them. Here, in the open air, they live far from the urban hustle and bustle and become one with the elements. Their rhythm follows that of nature and the cows: rising with the sun, bringing the cows into the stable in the fall, taking care of the animals in the winter, making the parks in the spring, making hay during the Summer… Each new season brings a different task. Nature, the true pillar of their profession, requires as much passion as resilience from them to continue to advance, grow and prosper.
TAKE CARE OF THE LIVING
On farms, daily life revolves around the cows: feeding them, caring for them, milking them, supporting them… From calving to their evolution in the herd, each stage counts for the farmers who watch over them with kindness for many years. years. This abundance of love is a two-way street: it is not uncommon to see cows filled with joy running up to farmers in parks to greet them and spend time with them. They know how to recognize those who take care of them. To improve the well-being of cows and, by extension, milk production, farmers ensure that they lack nothing in terms of food and comfort on the farm. Furthermore, they invest and innovate with new processes such as massage rollers or by creating sleeping areas with box springs and mattresses. Pampering cows is an integral part of the job.
MAINTAINING THE ABUNDANCE BREED
There are more than 20 breeds of dairy cows in France and each of them has its own characteristics. While some are appreciated for their productivity, the Abondance cow is recognized for the quality of its milk which is then transformed into cheese. To attest to the origin of each cow, the Abondance breed has its own genealogical register. Published in 1897, this document, called the “Herd-Book”, defines the breed standard, lists the cows belonging to it and indicates their pedigree. We also learn that the breed was first named “Chablaisienne”.
